Bath toys are a fantastic gift for that kid who has everything. Not only are they inexpensive, but they last a long time and grow with the child. Because children are only exposed to bath toys for short periods of time, they don’t tend to get sick of them. Bath toys are often simple, which means that children don’t outgrow them quickly. One year-olds-love to grab, feel and taste toys, two-year-olds love to squirt and squish, and three-year-olds can apply imagination play to existing toys. Children tend to outgrow age appropriate toys very quickly, but simple bath toys usually stand the test of age. Think about the amount of development a child experiences between the age of one and two. Here are a few suggestions for giving bath toys as a gift.
Give mom and dad a break and buy a bath toy that can be stored easily. If mom and dad or even older children share the same bathroom, they’ll appreciate not having to step around or constantly pick upĀ bath toys. That’s why I like this Rub a Dub Hoops in a Tub set by Alex. Younger children will love playing with the balls, which can squirt water and throwing them into the hoop. Parents can have fun shooting hoops too, and thanks to the mesh basket with a suction cup, don’t have to worry about rogue balls sliding around the tub.
The classic rubber duck is always an option, too, but check out this set of color changing rubber ducks. Kids love bath toys that squirt water, and there are sets for just about every interest; space, ocean, dinosaurs, farm and sports. Kids can treat squirting toys almost like action figures, so they’ll get a lot of use out of innovative squirting toys.
Musical instruments for the bath also make a great gift, the one time you can give a noisy gift without worrying about mom and dad’s sanity. Again, kids are exposed to bath toys for a short amount of time, so the noise won’t drive parents crazy. Many of the water drums, trumpets and xylophones for sale can change pitch when the water levels are altered, which is fun for kids and easier on parents.
Of course, with a set of squirting toys or other free-form toys, there’s always a bit of an organization problem. You can always get a cute bath toy holder, like this Fish Hold It All, to stuff everything in. A great way to teach kids about cleaning up since the tub is a small, confined location.
